Our Firm
HOADLEY MARTINEZ ARCHITECTS is a fully licensed Architectural firm that designs distinguished homes and commercial, academic, and institutional buildings and interiors.
Working together as architects with the renowned firm of Shepley Bulfinch in Boston, Principals Corina Martinez (AIA) and Susan Hoadley (AIA Associate LEED AP) have been collaborating for over fourteen (14) years. This experience enables us to bring large-firm expertise and small-firm service to all of our projects.
Our portfolio of fine home projects for growing families is a particular source of pride for our firm. Our distinguished residential portfolio includes houses for clients across the East Coast, specializing in projects for coastal sites as well as environmentally responsible building design. Please contact us to view our complete portfolio of residential work.
We help our commercial and institutional clients realize their financial, branding, and space use goals. As designers and managers, we have had a significant design impact and leadership on major building projects throughout our career(s) in larger firms. Clients for our projects at Wellesley College, Johns Hopkins University, Yale University, Endicott College, Bates College, Emma Willard School, the Boston Public Library in Copley Square, and the Ashley Hall School in the heart of the Historic District of Charleston, South Carolina (all at Shepley Bulfinch) have each praised our sensible and creative approach to their projects.
We are avid listeners who believe that design is at its best when it conveys the vision of the client, turning their ideals into an architecture that uniquely conveys who they are. We are not interested in overlaying our own separate vision onto the budget and realistic goals of our clients -- rather, we spend the time to get to know what clients want, what they like, how they want their spaces to be, and then we take the time to turn that understanding into a design that fits perfectly.
We believe that style is an end-product, not something that you begin with. Our portfolio of modern and traditionally inspired design conveys our willingness and talent for doing what is both appropriate and visionary.
Our clients have commented that we take the time to understand them, and that it shows in the architecture. Every client is different. We don’t have a “cook book “process; we tailor our process to each of our clients, realizing that every client differs in its budget, goals, and aesthetics. Please contact us to describe your project, and we will tell you in detail how we would approach your schedule, budget, and the design process. We have solid relationships with builders all over New England, and we will present our ideas for how to collaborate with the right construction professionals to build your project on time and on budget.
Nobody likes surprises. Our preferred way of working is a practical “Integrated Design” method, which means that we like to collaborate with builders from the very beginning of a project. This method allows us to predict issues that could arise from existing conditions, and to keep the design within the budget from the beginning. It saves time, and it saves money.
We are committed to the economical delivery of beautiful design that is also “green.” We are LEED-accredited at the AP level and have delivered LEED certified green building projects up to the Silver Certification level and are experienced with LEED-NC and LEED for Homes.
