HULL VILLAGE HISTORIC DISTRICT, HULL, MA

A London couple hired HMA to transform a "great buy" on a landmark site in Hull Village from a novelty Swiss Chalet in gross disrepair to an arts and crafts inspired fine home.  The site and program faced two major challenges: the Swiss Chalet, which was protected by Historic District jurisdiction and Review, contained few opportunities to capture there are 360 degree water and views of Hingham Bay, Boston Harbor, and the Boston skyline.   The existing , , was under the protection of the Hull Village Historic Commission and could not be permitted for demolition.  The HMA team worked with the Historic Commission to find stylistic links from the Arts and Crafts movement to the Shingle style and Chalet styles, permitting the client permission to transform the house to the style preferred by the clients.

The result is a dramatic home that allows for strategic views to Boston, along Hull Bay, into Hingham harbor, and to to the ___ Tower.
